Brigitte Laganière

&

Alex Nikolidakis

Brigitte and Alex are current university-level hockey players on the Concordia Stingers. Their idea for Women's Hockey Nation came about during a classic roommate hangout, where they took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and reminisced over all the countless funny, joyful, sad, and even difficult moments their last 5 years as student athletes had to offer. It was during this conversation where they realized that they both contemplated ending their hockey careers at the CEGEP level. At the ripe age of 18, these 2 young hockey players still had the potential to develop further as athletes and people, but didn’t believe that they could make the jump to university hockey.

When they realized their shared struggle, they opted to create this community to help support younger female hockey players through any obstacles they may face. Ultimately, this is something Brigitte & Alex wished they had access to when they were silently doubting their capabilities as athletes.

Over the last 5 years, Brigitte & Alex lived through the many ups & downs associated with the student athlete lifestyle. Seeing as they would not be the people they are today without this experience, they want to empower more girls to follow this path. And, if this platform could help even just one girl seize an opportunity to dive into the amazing possibilities university hockey has to offer, Brigitte & Alex would feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Content Creator
