To all our female coaches,

Thank you. Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for us.

As female student-athletes, you make up a pretty big part of our lives and, especially in-season, you might even see us more than our parents do. Not only have you shown us how to play the sport we love, but you also help us deal with the many different challenges that life throws at us. You are consistently showing us how to be a good leader, how to be a great teammate, how to be accountable, not only for ourselves, but also for others. Some of us may not realize it yet, but we know that someday, we will look back and come to see the lasting imprint you left on our lives.

Thank you for believing in us as athletes, and also as women. We know that dealing with young female adults still trying to figure out who they are and what they want to accomplish in their lives is probably not something you learned in a coaching clinic. And it is definitely not an easy task. But, we know that if we’re having a bad day, or a bad week, or even a bad month, you would never give up on us. Somehow, even in our darkest moments, you always see our light.

Thank you for recognizing our potential and guiding us to become the women we were meant to be. Every day, we look at you and you inspire us to be the best version of ourselves. Thanks to your guidance, when it’s time for us to carry the torch, we will be ready to be an amazing role model, just like you.

Thank you for your countless hours of work, your dedication, your patience, your unrelenting support, and your unwavering passion for not only the sport but for the young women playing it. Because of you, today, we are strong, empowered, brave, and confident women ready to take a stand for what we believe in and accomplish anything we set our minds to. We are forever grateful for the amazing woman that you are.

We can’t seem to find the right words to end this letter, but we’ll leave you with the 2 most important ones…

Thank you.
